Music

Music plays an important role at Calvary Baptist Church and has for many years. Probably the most visible is the Sanctuary Choir. This choir produces a Christmas Cantata each year, does other special programs, and provides a variety of music for both Sunday morning and evening worship services. The choir practices at 7:00 PM on Sunday evenings. Our handbell choir also plays a big part in our worship experience. We have five octaves of Handbells that provide inspirational music for worship at various times during the year.

Youth

The youth program at Calvary has a history of active involvement for both Middle School and High School youth. The youth groups meet on Sunday morning at 9:45 AM for Sunday School , and on Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM for Youth Meetings. There are social actives, mission projects, and retreats planned during the school year. These activities are led by a group of energetic and concerned volunteer leaders. During the summer, it has been a tradition to employ a summer youth worker who leads the youth program. The youth have been involved in World Changer's mission trips to Charleston, South Carolina, Chicago, Illinois, Pikeville, Kentucky and Wheeling, West Virginia. Youth Week at Caswell is also an annual trip for Jr. and Sr. High groups.

Children

At Calvary, we recognize the needs of children are at the heart of our ministry as a church. Sunday School is provided on Sunday mornings for each age group and the pastor shares a Children's Message near the beginning of the morning worship. The younger children then leave the sanctuary for their own Children's Church. There are parties and activities for children planned throughout the year, especially at holiday times and a weekly activity for children is held in the summer. Vacation Bible School is held each summer to give special attention to the spiritual needs of children.

Nursery

Our nursery facilities and staff provide an atmosphere of security and love for infants and toddlers during Sunday School, Morning Worship, and other special programs of the church.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts

Calvary was asked a few years ago to sponsor a Cub Scout Pack for the Wentworth area. We were honored to be a part of Scouting through this sponsorship and are happy to have Cub Scout Pack 701 meet each week at Calvary. The Pack began modestly, with just a handful of boys meeting each week. It has grown to over 20 boys and seen many new leaders join in helping develop sound Christian principles in the boys of our community.

Calvary is also proud to now have Boy Scout Troop 701 meet at our church. Troop 701 is the oldest Boy Scout Troop in Rockingham County and is the Troop our Cub Scout Pack feeds into.

Both Pack 701 and Troop 701 meet at Calvary every Tuesday night at 7:00PM. If you have a son interested in Scouting, please contact Jon Jones via e-mail or at 336-349-4252 or you can contact the church office for more details.
